She has a special interest in working with parents and is trained in several evidence-based practices that work with parents. Deirdre is trained in DBT-C for children who are more sensitive and struggle with emotion regulation. Deirdre is also trained in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) which is used to treat children who have a primary anxiety disorder and Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Deirdre is also trained in the Modular Approach to Therapy for Children with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma or Conduct Problems (MATCH). Deirdre also has experience providing Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder (ERP) and anxiety disorders. Furthermore, Deirdre is experienced in working with families who have added to their family through adoption and the challenges that can come from international adoption or adoptions from the foster care system.

Deirdre received extensive training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and worked previously at McLean Hospital 3East DBT Continuum of Care.  DBT is an evidence-based, skills-focused treatment that has been found to be effective for clients struggling with self-harm and suicidality, impulsivity, difficulties with emotion regulation, maintaining healthy relationships, and issues related to self-esteem and self-worth. This skills-focused treatment has also proven effective for clients struggling with PTSD and trauma related symptoms such as nightmares, flashbacks, dissociation, and avoidance.  In addition to DBT, Deirdre uses DBT-Prolonged Exposure (DBT-PE), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Prologued Grief Therapy (PGT) in her clinical practice.

In addition to her role as a clinician Deirdre works as the Director of Childhood Services, where she provides supervision and continues to build our services for children and families. She received a B.S. from Northeastern University and a Master of Arts in Social Work from Simmons University. She completed internships at Wayside Youth and Families as part of their mobile crisis unit and North Suffolk Mental Health. Formerly, Deirdre worked as an Adoption Social Worker contracted through the Department of Children and Families and helped support families while placing children in adoptive homes. Deirdre’s goal is to help individuals across the life span build the skills needed to help navigate the ups and downs that inevitably come with life. Deirdre has a deep passion for helping people realize their own inherent capabilities and ability to cope in the midst of their emotions.
