Advanced DBT Group at MCG: Enhancing Your DBT Skills
MCG’S ADVANCED DBT GROUP IS OPEN TO GRADUATES OF OUR DBT SKILLS GROUP WITH THE RECOMMENDATION OF THEIR THERAPIST/GROUP LEADER.
This group is based on peer support and skills generalization. It offers individuals who already have a strong background in DBT to work together with their peers in applying DBT skills to everyday life. The group leader offers guidance as well as additional skills instruction as needed or relevant. The group is agenda-based: members ask each other for problem solving or validation and members support one another in generating solutions.
To join the group, members commit to participate for a minimum of 12 weeks. They are billed for membership every 6 weeks. This lenth of commitment is required to help promote and sustain a sense of safety, consistency, and community within the group. Unlike the regular DBT skills group, there isn't a set end point or set start dating dates. Members can join on a rolling basis after having met with Deirdre Jimenez for a group intake. The minimum number of group participants is 4 and the maximum is 8.
The group is lead by Deirdre Jimenez, LICSW. It meets on Mondays from 6-7:30pm.
