Dr. Porter is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in evidence-based treatment for anxiety and related disorders. She works primarily with adults who struggle with OCD anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and phobias, as well as those suffering from OCD and PTSD. Dr. Porter received her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and subsequently worked as a clinical research coordinator at the Center for Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital. She then went on to receive her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Porter completed a trauma-focused predoctoral internship at the VA Maryland Health Care System and completed her postdoctoral training at the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders at Boston University.

 Dr. Porter specializes in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). She has received extensive training in CBT for anxiety disorders and depression, exposure and response prevention (Ex/RP) for OCD, and both cognitive processing therapy (CPT) and prolonged exposure (PE) for PTSD. Dr. Porter works collaboratively with her clients to tailor these evidence-based treatments to suit each client’s individual goals, needs, and strengths. She frequently integrates mindfulness and motivational interviewing, as well as techniques drawn from dialectical behavior therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy, into her clinical practice.

 In addition, Dr. Porter has expertise in evidence-based assessment and differential diagnosis. She also has a long history of involvement in research. Her research interests include interpersonal functioning in individuals with anxiety disorders, as well as treatment strategies, predictors and moderators of treatment outcome, and mechanisms of change in anxiety and related disorders. Dr. Porter enjoys providing supervision and mentorship to trainees and is passionate about training the next generation of mental health providers.
