Dr. Luciano Caprio is a postdoctoral fellow with a passion for supporting adolescents and young adults navigating challenges related to emotion regulation, suicidality, trauma, anxiety, depression, and identity development. He provides evidence-based, compassionate care grounded in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), while emphasizing collaboration, authenticity, and respect for each client’s lived experience.

Dr. Caprio earned his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University Post and completed his predoctoral internship at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue Hospital Center, where he trained across multiple levels of care—including emergency, inpatient, and partial hospitalization services—providing comprehensive treatment to individuals across the lifespan. He previously trained at Northwell Health/Zucker Hillside Hospital’s Behavioral Health College Partnership on the 1South DBT Inpatient Unit. He gained invaluable experience delivering short-term DBT interventions for high-risk, college-age individuals while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced therapeutic milieu. While at Montefiore Medical Center’s Child Outpatient Psychiatry Department, he provided adherent DBT for adolescents and co-facilitated an LGBTQ+ affirming therapy group. This experience allowed him to implement long-term interventions for adolescents and their families, fostering comprehensive care. Dr. Caprio values cultural diversity and equity, and foundation of treating culturally diverse children, adolescents, and young adults with a range of mental health difficulties.

In addition to being a postdoctoral fellow at the Mindfulness & Change Group, Dr. Caprio is currently completing a fellowship at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School’s 3East DBT Residential Program for Adolescents and Young Adults. He strives to create a validating and empowering therapeutic space where clients and families can build skills, deepen self-understanding, and work toward meaningful change.
