Sam DiChiara is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Sam earned her Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine from Boston University School of Medicine. She completed her practicum at Arbour Hospital’s Adult Partial Hospitalization Program and her internship at Boston Medical Center in adult primary care. Previously, Sam worked at Codman Square Health Center as an integrated therapist in primary care. In this position, Sam worked with adults who experienced a wide variety of diagnoses, including anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, major depressive disorder, and substance use disorders. She has experience leading groups and providing short- and longer- term individual counseling to adults. Sam values examining the impact of racism and systems of oppression on people’s experiences both in and out of the therapeutic context.

 Sam incorporates a variety of treatment modalities to help people cope with life’s challenges. She primarily utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to treat adults with anxiety disorders and exposure and response prevention (Ex/RP) to treat adults with OCD. Sam also integrates aspects of mindfulness and motivational interviewing in her approach to counseling. Sam understands the importance of aligning with clients with empathy and validation, as well as helping individuals develop goals and skills that are in line with their personal values.
